
Regent-Ghana Welcomes Prof. Raphel Ouseph Thattil
Prof. Raphel Ouseph Thattil from Sri Lanka has arrived safely in Ghana with his wife. Prof. Thattil is the Director for the Regent MSc. Statistics programme. Prior to his appointment at Regent University, he was the Director of Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture and Professor of Crop Science, University of Peradeniya.
He holds a PhD in Statistics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1985. He also has MSc in Statistics from University of the Philippines, Los Banos, Philippines, in 1980 and a BSc. in Agriculture from Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, 1973. His field of specialization is the design and analysis of experiments and statistical method.
Prof. Thattil has developed computer software programmes for stability analysis written in Basic Language, a data base program for genetic Data Bank, Batalagoda, Sri Lanka, and Computer program for DIALLEL analysis.
Prof. Thattil has won several prizes for best presentation at the Faculty of Agriculture and PGIA. He is also a recipient of the presidential award for International Publication in 1999. He has published over 60 articles in refereed journals and over 50 scientific communication papers.
