    The Public Affairs Manager Has Been Elected President Of SWAA Ghana


    Ms. Nancy Ansah, the Public Affairs Manager of Regent University has been elected as the President for Society for Women and AIDS in Africa (SWAA) Ghana. She succeeds Mrs. Cecilia Senoo, the Founder and Executive Director for Hope for Future Generations.

    Society for Women and AIDS in Africa (SWAA) Ghana is a branch of SWAA International, a Pan African Women’s organization with its headquarters in Dakar, Senegal. SWAA International has 42 branches in 42 African countries.

    The main strategy of SWAA in achieving its objectives of reducing the impact of HIV among African women and children is advocacy. SWAA advocates with policy makers, traditional leaders and other decision makers on reproductive health rights of women and young people, increased government resources for Reproductive Health programmes, issues on HIV treatment and integration of HIV and Reproductive Health. SWAA advocates for universal access to treatment and support for Orphans and Vulnerable Children.

    Dr. Angela El-Adas, the Director General of the Ghana AIDS Commission, was the Guest of Honour for the handing over ceremony. In her speech, she acknowledged the work of SWAA Ghana and promised Ghana AIDS Commission’s continual support and friendship for the new elected executives.

    Ms. Ansah worked at SWAA as the National Coordinator in 2004. After she left SWAA to set up her own NGO, she maintained her membership with the organization. In 2006, she became the Vice President until her election as President on June 16, 2010. Throughout her work with Regent University, she continues to engage herself in development and social work to help reduce HIV infection in Ghana and also advocate for Reproductive Health and rights issues among women and young people.
