REGENT UNIVERSITY HOLDS PREMIER GRADUATION CEREMONY

The Regent University College of Science and Technology (RUCST) will hold her first graduation ceremony come April 26, 2008.

Regent-Ghana which started in 2005 with about 35 students at the Trinity Campus at Mataheko near Club Corner Spot has a current population of over 1400 students spread over four (4) campuses – Trinity at Mataheko, Adom at Dansoman Roundabout, Kings at Dansoman off the Keep Fit Club and Roquah at Lartebiokoshie.

In an interview with the President and CEO of RUCST, Rev. Professor E. Kingsley Larbi, at the Kings Campus which also serves as the Corporate Headquarters, he said the growth of the College can only be attributed to God’s grace and hardwork.

RUCST, as an institution with the motive of building the human resource capacity of Ghana including brilliant but needy students has singlehandedly sponsored over 60 students to the tune of GH¢110,000 to pursue further studies.

The programme will have the President of the Republic of Ghana, J. A. Kufuor as the Special Guest Speaker as well as Ministers of States, Members of the Diplomatic Corps, MPs as well as business leaders attending.

REGENT-MAASTRICHT MBA COMMENCES

The Regent University College of Science and Technology (RUCST) has started its first Masters in Business Administration – Management Information Systems – option.

The programme which is being done in collaboration with the Maastricht School of Management in Netherlands rolled off on March 31, 2008 with 15 students.

Students were taken through a whole week of orientation on topics like: Referencing your thesis; Introduction to Web Technology; writing a good seminar paper amongst others at the KrisView Hotel at Dansoman, SSNIT close to the King’s Campus.

The orientation workshops which were facilitated by Ms Nancy Ansah had Dr Charles Owiredu as the main resource person supported by Prof. Matthew Ojo, and Mr Addo Quarshie.

The two-year MBA programme which has been accredited by the prestigious Association of MBAs (AMBAs) will have features such as a: ten day mandatory Maastricht attachment; remote access to Maastricht’s electronic library; smaller class size; State-of-the-art teaching facilities amongst others.

The two-year course will tackle areas such as Business in the global arena; Finance in International market, Innovation and new business ventures, Global corporate strategies; Managerial economics; Research methods and business statistics among others.

Dr Charles Owiredu, the lead resource person and the Provost of Regent University called on the students to show the way as pioneers of the University’s first MBA group. “I challenge you to rise above the odds and portray the good that this University is known for that will be the yardstick to measure those who will follow you,” he said.

Dr Owiredu assured them that a team of competent lectures have been put together to ensure that they sail through well, “but it will all boil down to how well you take advantage of the opportunity being offered to you,” he said.

According to him plans are far advanced to start MBA programmes in the following areas: Aviation Management, Corporate Strategy and Economic Policy, Banking and Finance as well as Accounting

The students elected a Group Secretary Ms Rita Ainooson and her Deputy, Mr Emmanuel Afutu to steer the affairs of the group.
