The Rev. Prof Kingsley Larbi has successfully pioneered two private universities (Central University College and Regent University College of Science and Technology) within the past ten years. He is the pioneer theological scholar within the Pentecostal-Charismatic movement in Ghana. His classic book, Pentecostalism: The Eddies of Ghanaian Christianity, is the first and so far the leading work on Pentecostal-Charismatic Christianity in Ghana. Currently he has been commissioned by the International Executive of the Church of Pentecost to research on the origins and development of the Church from historical and theological perspectives, looking at the church’s ethos, theology, polity, and liturgy , identifying the contributions of first, second, and third generation of leaders.
Rev. Larbi has very rich working experience. The positions he has handled over the years include: Accounting Officer, Management Development and Productivity Institute, Ghana Business Bureau, Kumasi; Office Manager with a British Civil Engineering construction company (Cementation Construction) on the White Volta and Black Volta Bridges; Assistant Accounts Manager, Costal Services Nigeria Limited, Lagos, Nigeria; Principal, Central Christian College, Ghana. His distinguished pioneering efforts at Central Christian College led to the establishment of Central University College, Ghana, where he served as its first President/Vice Chancellor from November 1998 until July 2003.
Prof. Larbi has also served as the chairman of the Code of Conduct Sub-committee of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) which produced the Code of Conduct for the political parties towards the 2000 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
He currently doubles as the President and Chief Executive Officer, Regent University, and Executive Director of the Centre for Pentecostal and Charismatic Studies, which is a research, documentation and educational resource centre. He is an Associate Minister at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Accra, a ministry of the Church of Pentecost, Ghana.
His qualifications include BA in Bible and Theology, Master of Divinity and Master of Theology degrees. He also holds Doctor Philosophy degree from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He has done a one year post-doctoral research at the Global Research Institute, Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, California, USA. He is married to Florence Larbi and they have four children.
