Regent University College of Science and Technology invites suitably qualified candidates for its newly accredited 1-year MSc Statistics programme. The programme aims at providing graduates with knowledge and understanding of a broad range of advanced statistical topics and techniques. The programme emphasizes on developing your ability in solving substantial and realistic statistical problems, communicating the findings effectively and in developing new techniques.
Why the MSc statistics Programme? The emergence of data mining and analysis means that the demand for statisticians is growing across a wide range of professions - actuarial, charitable organizations, commercial, environmental, financial, forensic and police investigation, government, market research, medical and pharmaceutical organizations. The course is designed specifically to meet this demand.
Admission Requirements
The following are the minimum entry requirements:
- Category A: Applicants must have a Bachelors Degree in Statistics or Mathematics (preferably second class upper division) from a recognized University
- Category B: Applicants must have HND in Statistics and BSc/BA in non-Statistics or Mathematics disciplines. Such applicants will complete a one year Pre-MSc Statistics programme before the Masters programme.
- Category C: Applicants holding Diploma in Statistics from ISSER, Legon (or equivalent from a recognized institution) will need to complete a one-semester refresher programme before proceeding to the Pre-MSc Statistics programme.
Mode of Application
Each candidate is expected to submit the following documents:

- Certified copies of relevant certificates, (include notarized English translations if the originals are not in the English language).
- Certified copies of academic transcripts embossed with the seal of the issuing university (include notarized English translations if the originals are not in the English language).
- Two filled and signed Referee Report forms, each with a recommendation letter attached. The recommendation shall be given by persons who are well acquainted with the applicant's work and studies and are in the position to judge the candidate's abilities to pursue a Master's degree.
- A personal resume/CV in English.
- Two (2) passport size photographs.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the programme, graduates would have:
- Developed a critical awareness of the application of modern statistical techniques to a variety of problems and the ability to use a range of computational tools and packages
- Acquired a highly desirable set of skills that will enable them to work in a variety of environments
- Had the ability to model real world situations and assist in the development of solutions in a variety of mathematical and or statistical contexts
- Gained some experience in communicating mathematical and statistical arguments and conclusions
